INSERM (Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale)

A collaboration between the Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale (INSERM) of France and UC Irvine has led to the creation of the research unit U904 “Contrôle Epigénétique de la Plasticité Neuronale.” Articles that describe this collaboration have appeared in Nature, Orange County Register, and Science & Santé.
CEM is interested in exploring the epigenetic and metabolic bases of human psychiatric disorders, such as depression and anxiety (see also Borrelli et al. Neuron [2008] 60:961-974). This research is conducted in collaboration with U904 INSERM and the laboratories of Fabio Macciardi, Marquis Vawter, Marcelo Wood, Joan Steffan, Leslie Thompson and Tallie Baram. Through the help of William E. Bunney, Della Martin Chair in Psychiatry, CEM also benefits from the support of the Della Martin Foundation, which sponsors one postdoctoral fellow at CEM.
