The UC Irvine School of Medicine's Human Resources unit works with the Labor Relations unit within campus Human Resources to handle grievances, arbitrations, unfair labor practice charges and complaints to state agencies.
Employee and labor relations consultants also conduct employment investigations, provide required notices to the unions, publish bulletins on timely topics, draft settlement agreements, engage in collective bargaining, provide access and strike coordination, and interpret and implement complex labor contract language.
The consultants in central campus Human Resources respond to union requests for information, provide training on working in a unionized environment, respond to labor demonstrations and strikes, facilitate positive and collaborative labor/management relationships, and notify the campus community about changes in state and federal labor law.
These consultants also act as a liaison with the University of California Office of the President on systemwide labor/management issues, including systemwide collective bargaining agreements.
