UC Irvine Summer Premed Program

Welcome to the Summer Premed Program. The Summer Premed Program is a two-week program dedicated to fostering the interest of high school students toward careers in medicine. This program combines didactic lectures given by distinguished UC Irvine faculty members and hands-on workshops to provide a first-rate exposure to the medical field. All activities are geared toward an “insider’s look” at being a medical student.

Program activities include:

  • Clinical case studies
  • Suturing and intubation
  • Introduction to Basic life support
  • Vitals workshop
  • Nutrition and effects on health
  • Physicians guest speakers
  • Robotic and laparoscopic surgery
  • Hospital and undergraduate tour
  • Casting and splinting
  • Human anatomy laboratory
  • College and career development
  • Bedside ultrasound
  • Team projects

The 2013 program is full and we are not considering any new applications. We are in the process of reviewing all the submitted applications.
