Located in Shanbrom Hall on the UC Irvine Medical Center campus in Orange, the facility operates under the auspices of the UC Irvine School of Medicine and is overseen by Medical Director Dr. Jaime Landman and Manager Christina Hwang.

It encompasses 2,400 square feet of equipped wet laboratory space and 750 square feet of furnished office space, which is available for lease to startup and established companies seeking opportunities in a research-oriented medical center campus. View our brochure and downloadable application.

Available facilities

TechPortal Orange is a prime location for laboratory and office space. Facilities and resources potentially available to clients through the medical center include the Institute for Clinical and Translational Science, clinical pathology (CLIA lab), human tissue samples and essential equipment for biomedical research and surgical education.

Clients also have access to vivarium and animal surgery facilities, upon appropriate regulatory approval, including existing and expedited protocol approvals.

UC Irvine clinical faculty and research scientists also are readily available as collaborators or consultants through any stage of the research and development process.

Our goal: Incubate startups

UC Irvine School of Medicine established TechPortal Orange to address its mission of technology transfer and to accelerate the development of translational research into clinical applications.

The primary goal of TechPortal Orange is to incubate startup companies that are based on UC Irvine intellectual property. The secondary goal is to host external companies, to enable and foster their interactions with UC Irvine faculty and staff. These collaborations will aim to apply the facilities, resources and intellectual capital at UC Irvine to help develop devices, products and therapeutics into clinically applicable solutions to medical problems.
